Welcome!

I’m Brandi May, a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

As a dedicated therapist specializing in attachment-based therapy in Fort Erie, I offer a unique and integrative approach to healing that blends modern psychological techniques with a deep understanding of human connection and emotional well-being.

Since establishing my practice in 2022, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals in overcoming a variety of challenges, such as insecure attachment, relationship struggles, self-esteem issues, and life transitions. My therapy style is trauma-informed and highly personalized, ensuring that each client receives the care and attention that best fits their unique needs. I specialize in a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including Attachment-Based Therapy, Insecure Attachment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices. These approaches help individuals build emotional resilience, heal from past wounds, and foster healthier relationships.

In my practice, I offer both in-person and virtual therapy options, tailoring the experience to each client's preferences. For those seeking a more immersive approach, I also offer "walk and talk" sessions, where we can explore healing in natural, outdoor settings, fostering a deeper connection with both yourself and the environment.

If you're ready to begin your healing journey and create a life that feels more authentic and aligned with your values, I invite you to reach out. Taking that first step can be daunting, but together, we can begin the process of healing and transformation. Let's start today.

Our Therapy Services in Fort Erie, Ontario

At Brandi May Therapy, we offer specialized therapy services for individuals and couples in Fort Erie and the surrounding areas. As a compassionate and experienced therapist, I focus on helping you build and strengthen healthy, secure attachments, and foster meaningful relationships. Whether you're seeking in-person sessions, virtual counseling, or nature-based "walk and talk" therapy, my approach is designed to help you heal and create the fulfilling relationships you deserve.

Attachment-Based Therapy

Attachment-based therapy is at the core of my practice. This approach helps individuals understand the deep-rooted attachment patterns that shape their relationships and emotional well-being. If you've experienced difficulties with emotional connections or struggle with insecure attachment styles, together we’ll work to heal these patterns, build stronger emotional bonds, and foster greater self-awareness in your relationships.

Attachment & Emotional Regulation

Emotional regulation is closely tied to the attachments we form early in life. If you find yourself struggling with intense emotions, difficulty in managing reactions, or challenges in interpersonal relationships, attachment-based techniques can help. Through this therapy, I’ll guide you in developing healthier emotional regulation skills, fostering deeper self-awareness, and improving your interactions with others.

Relationship Therapy for Individuals & Couples

Healthy relationships are essential to our emotional well-being, but maintaining them can be challenging. I offer therapy for individuals and couples who wish to improve their relationship dynamics, strengthen communication, and develop healthier patterns of interaction. Whether you're dealing with communication issues, trust concerns, or emotional disconnection, I provide support to help you create lasting, positive changes in your relationships.

Navigating Relationship Transitions

Transitions in relationships—whether starting a new relationship, facing conflict, or adjusting to changes in your partnership—can be stressful. I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate these transitions with the tools they need to build resilience, understanding, and trust. Together, we’ll work through challenges such as separation, infidelity, or evolving relationship dynamics.

Mindfulness & Attachment Healing

Mindfulness practices can support attachment healing by helping you become more aware of your emotional responses and behaviors in relationships. Through mindfulness-based techniques, I guide clients in cultivating greater emotional presence, which enhances emotional connection and relationship satisfaction. Whether through "walk and talk" therapy or other mindfulness practices, we will focus on grounding yourself in the present moment for deeper connection with yourself and others.

Land
Acknowledgement

It is of ciritical importance that formal acknowledgement is made that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and Neutral peoples. This region is part of the larger Niagara Peninsula, which has been a site of significance for Indigenous communities for thousands of years.

Although Indigenous peoples have a long history on this land, it would be a mistake to assume that Indigenous peoples stories, and ways of life are a thing of the past.  Similarly, it would be an error to assume that colonization only exists in history textbooks. Colonization is an active process and therefore, requires active dismantling and critique. This also means that reconciliation should also be an active and ongoing aim. At Brandi May Counselling and Ecotherapy, promotion of reconiciliation comes in the form of

  1. Active and ongoing critique of traditional colonial attitudes to wellness and psychotherapy

  2. Acknowledging the legitimacy and value of Indigenous perspectives on wellness such as the medicine wheel

  3. Committing to actions that promote reconciliation based on the premise of the Two Row Wampum through a dedication to allyship.

  4. Being responsible stewards of the land and taking only what it needed, and leaving the rest.

If you, or someone you love would appreciate connecting with Indigenous community in Niagara, please feel free to reach out to the Niagara Regional Native Center for guidance https://nrnc.ca/
